How to identify a vegan soap?

A soap can be based on olive and coconut oil and still contain animal ingredients. If you want to shop vegan, it is therefore worth taking a look at the entire recipe.

These ingredients are not plant based

Honey, milk, beeswax, and lanolin come from animals. In the list of ingredients, you might find Mel for honey or Cera Alba for beeswax. Sodium Tallowate refers to soap salts made from animal fat.

A clear example in our range is the buffalo milk rope soap. Even though such a bar contains plant oils, it is not a vegan choice because of the milk.

Not everything can be recognized by the name

With some ingredients, such as glycerin, the INCI name alone does not reliably indicate the origin. Here, a reliable vegan label or concrete information from the manufacturer helps. If this is missing, you should not simply assume a plant origin.

Vegan is a separate characteristic

Vegan does not automatically mean fragrance free, allergen free, or suitable for your skin. Likewise, statements regarding animal testing are a separate issue from the origin of the ingredients.

Check the current packaging when restocking, as formulas can change. If you are unsure, mention the exact product in your inquiry. This way, your question can be clarified in a targeted manner.
